A most appealing Porsche, our 911S Targa was manufactured and subsequently received by supplying dealer, Porsche Cars Switzerland, on 14th January 1974. It wore then, as it wears now, Lime Green paintwork which must have been a very bold statement for Geneva in ’74. …. We can safely assume this, since it still packs a punch today!
As a Swiss-delivered car when new we can be assured that this car is eligible to go back into Switzerland with no duties to pay.
Our Porsche is a factory-correct ‘S’ Spec Targa. It has matching engine and gearbox numbers which correlate to the Certificate of Authenticity which accompanies it. As a 2.7 litre engine it has the correct 911/93 engine type clearly stamped, and our car houses a traditional manual gearbox, type 915/06.
In the period of 2017-2018 this car was completely and expertly restored. The body was fully stripped, prepared, re-metalled and repainted in Lime Green by a competent independent workshop in the north of England. Meanwhile, close to our business, the mechanicals of this Porsche were attended to by another agent with an impressive record preparing race engines. This gentleman was tasked with fully rebuilding the engine with new pistons, liners, bearings, valves, valve guides, timing chains and reground crank and camshafts. Further tasks entrusted here before the engine was re-installed was to overhaul the suspension, clean and flush gearbox, rebuild drive shafts and adapt the exhaust to house a new stainless-steel unit, amongst many other undertakings.
Finally, the trim work which has been completed to a very high standard and presented in contrasting black leather and vinyl was entrusted to a third-generation family of trimmers. This included the targa roof panel with correct padding and a full carpet set, also in Black. The result really is superb.
A few extra details such as the period correct Cibie pallas spotlights and Porsche decals on the doors complete this excellent car. It has been run-in since the rebuild and even re-serviced. Available immediately from our premises in North Yorkshire, your interest is encouraged and professional inspections for overseas enquirers is welcomed.
