Additional Information

First registered in April 1999 in Guernsey by Jacksons Group (who still operate today), this pampered early life in the Channel Islands is partly the reason the car still presents so well and with such modest mileage today….

The history file confirms that it remained in Guernsey until 2013, at which time, with approximately only 21,000 miles amassed, it began residence in the north of England, then Glasgow, before beginning a relationship with the SL Shop in the West Midlands in 2019 at 34,000miles.

The most recent custodian of this car has been since February 2021 who acquired the car via the SL Shop and subsequently enjoyed a handful of memorable UK-based road trips with his wife. He reports that the 3199cc straight six is indeed smooth, plenty powerful and forgivably economical making it the ideal tool for this type of motoring. Luggage space is ample, and it’s stowed away safely meaning you can make lunch stops or explore villages without even having to raise the convertible roof when parked.

In most recent ownership servicing and maintenance has been entrusted to Mercedes-Benz of Sheffield, most recently in late 2022, though there is a generous history file evidencing consistent maintenance throughout its life by trusted agents. Mileage now stands at a very modest 40,500 miles, warranted.

The Brilliant Silver paintwork is still close to “brilliant” in its condition today. The wheels are unmarked, the tyres show deep tread and the interior presents with only very light wear, as you’d expect. It is complete with a hardtop that’s clearly been barely-used and which houses a panoramic glass roof, a lovely feature. Even with the hard-top on it’s a light and airy cabin.

We’ve always had a soft spot for this era SL. They feel expertly engineered and crafted, incredibly robust, yet rewarding to drive and safe on modern roads and amongst traffic. The complete all-rounder? We think so….
