Ferrari 458 Engine in a Toyota 86
You have probably seen quite a few serious tuning jobs to boost performance, including engine swapping, but there has been nothing like this one, and it’s not exaggerating to say this is the craziest project ever.
Pro drifter Ryan Tuerck’s latest project is to fit the F136 V8 engine from a Ferrari 458 into a Toyota 86, perhaps the most challenging engine swap ever envisioned. Just physically fitting a large Italian engine into the compact engine compartment of a small Japanese car requires a crazy amount of work. Tierce had to perform substantial chassis alterations, along with constructing plenty of custom parts and cutting the windshield frame to accommodate the V8’s big air intakes as they are now facing backward. You can see the V8 is sitting quite high in the frame due to the height of the overhead cams and top-mounted intake plenum making it taller than the 86’s flat four-cylinder engine.
Tuerck claims that it will be ready by October. We can’t wait to see its impressive performance!
