Formula E Festival Can’t Be Missed


Formula E is shaping the future of sports events, where entertainment and motorsport meet to create the ultimate event experience.

Another highlight of Day One is the Kam Lung Motor Group Charity Parade, as 40 of the finest luxe marques from around the world, many of which are limited editions and unable to be seen on the road in Hong Kong – including Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche, Bugatti, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes Benz, Rolls Royce and more – will take to the circuit. As the official dealer of Bentley, Kam Lung Motor Group is introducing the GT3-R, one of the 300 limited edition in the world, and the world’s fastest and most luxurious SUV Bentayga as the leading cars in the parade. 

The parade will take place at 16.20 on Saturday and aim to raise funds for the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGH)with a total amount of HKD 1,000,000 charitable contribution. Kam Lung Motor Group will also host a group of young children from TWGH for a special pit lane visit on Saturday to help them understand more about racing sport. 

Reflecting the ‘entertainment’ pillar of the ePrix is Hong Kong’s first Live Edition by Zoukout, Asia’s most popular dance event, featuring multiple Grammy-winning Hip-hop and R&B legends Nelly and Ne-Yo as well as the world’s most in-demand electronic dance music DJ Nicky Romero. Live Edition by Zoukout will be held at the event’s eMotion Club on Friday evening, 7 October. 

The action on the track is even hotter with Saturday 8 October, providing spectators with a series of celebrity races and car parades showcasing the future of sustainable mobility and some of the world’s premier auto marques. 

Formula Racing Development Limited (FRD) will present the world’s first electric touring car race, the 2016 e-Touring Car Challenge at 17.40 on Saturday, 8 October. The race features 16 Hong Kong drivers racing behind the wheel of specially modified Volkswagen eGolf.

Five celebrity racing enthusiasts from the Hong Kong entertainment world, including Aaron Kwok, Chin Ka Lok, Alex Fong, Jacqueline Chong and Pakho Chau who will contend for the title with veteran Hong Kong drivers including FRD founder Kenneth Ma, five-time champion of Macau Touring Car Cup Paul Poon and female driver Denise Yeung, among others.

Electric vehicle manufacturer Detroit Electric will debut its limited edition two-seat, pure-electric sports car, the SP:01, in Hong Kong at 14:25 on 8 October. Hong Kong racing star Darryl O’Young will be the first to test the SP:01 on the Formula E Hong Kong circuit in a challenge to create a best lap time for the Hong Kong circuit.

All of the action builds towards Sunday’s hosting of the opening event of Formula E’s third season with two non-qualifying practice rounds preceding the first of four qualifying groups and a super pole prior to the staging of the main event: the 45-lap Formula E HKT Hong Kong ePrix race at 16.00.
