Return by popular demand

RL Neo Classics hosted and accomplished its pioneer auction in Hong Kong on 11 June 2016 at The Repulse Bay, bringing together traditionally low-profile yet passionate classic car lovers in Hong Kong. With a promising sales rate of close to 35% in the first auction, RL Neo Classics is confident to have stirred up excitement from both international and local car collectors, encouraging them to venture new challenges.

RL Neo Classics plans to multiply its success by hosting its second auction this year as a tribute to extraordinary car models that have starred previously on the silver screen. Both movie and car enthusiasts are expected to assemble at the auction admiring these classic and special pieces. The most notable collectable out of the 21 models is the renowned Lamborghini Countach which appeared in a memorable scene from the movie “The Wolf of Wall Street” with an estimated price of $4M. Fans of Leonardo DiCaprio will now have an opportunity to own a Countach similar to the one featured in the Oscar-nominated hit.

Leading an advancement in auctioning in Hong Kong

During its inaugural auction, RL Neo Classics has successfully garnered immense interests from both the local and international community. While the key mission of RL Neo Classics is to provide a unique channel for Asian collectors to acquire classic valuable vintages within the region, it has also successfully stirred-up interests from collectors in the West as well. This encouraged RL Neo Classics to lead an investment in developing a real-time online bidding platform that caters to buyers globally – first of its kind in Hong Kong. The bidding platform, developed as a digital world-wide marketplace, will be ready for launching in the upcoming auction, allowing prospective buyers from all countries of Asia, USA, UK and so forth to participate and have access to these classic movie cars.

This platform primarily enables clients to place bids from a remote location guaranteeing a low latency real-time experience. In the June Auction, RL Neo Classics experimented the predecessor of the Live Auction Portal and completed the auction without any interruptions. RL Neo Classics aims to further develop a Luxury Auction Platform with support for PC, Mac, Tablets and smartphone devices; Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X, iOS and Google Android. The ambition is to provide utmost convenience to clients. It is anticipated that this platform will be the new trend in classic automobile auction bidding after the latest Knight Frank Luxury Investment Index ranked classic cars as crown of the luxury list.

1973 Porsche 911 T 2.4

RL Neo Classics Car Auction 1973 Porsche 911 T 2.4

Appearance in 1984 Movie No Small Affair
The Porsche 911 is a design, performance and motoring icon beyond argument. Porsche redefined the essence of “sports car” and continue to make what is recognizably “A 911” to this very day. Countless racing drivers have chosen to own one for 30, 40 years which shows that there must be something profound about them.

1986 Lamborghini Countach 5000 QV

RL Neo Classics Car Auction

Appearance in 2013 Movie The Wolf of Wall Street
This remarkable Lamborghini Countach is a unique motor car that combines the style that had everyone’s interests back when it was first launched. It was also the world’s fastest production vehicle at that time. This car has only had one owner and the car is fully licensed for Hong Kong road use and could be easily driven away after legal formalities.

1990 Ferrari 328 GTS

RL Neo Classics Car Auction

Appearance in 1987 Movie Beverly Hills Cop 2

As with all great movie heroes, or “anti-heroes”, the leading man in Beverley Hills Cop 2 was given perhaps the ultimate late 1980’s expression of success – the 328 GTS Ferrari.

This particular 328 is a GTS (Grand Turismo Spider) with a Targa top. It is also a late model featuring ABS Brakes and new wheel design to allow for the enhanced braking characteristics, the wheels now bulge “out” rather than dish “in”. Imported from the UK by a local Ferrari collector, this ultra-low mileage (c4500 miles). A must-see for serious Ferrari collectors.

1976 Jaguar XJ6C

RL Neo Classics Car Auction

Appearance in 1976 TV Series The New Avengers

The New Avengers was a mid-1970s television series which followed up on the success of the 1960s original and brought “John Steed” back to television screens as a maverick “spy master”. Steed was given a Broadspeed modified XJC to drive in the series, and in fact the original “movie car” was sold just last year in the UK.

This particular XJ6C, is an Australian import, presented in an unusual original mustard yellow color with black vinyl roof. It also has new leather interior, headlining and carpets.

1958 Mercedes 190SL Roadster

RL Neo Classics Car Auction

Appearance in 1956 Movie High Society

This example was imported from the United Kingdom a number of years ago and has been the beneficiary of an extensive programme of work which has included a recent refreshing of the interior upholstery; a bare metal strip and paint to the exterior coach work and a full and thorough overhaul of the engine.

Arguably the most important factor with this particular Mercedes is that it is fully Hong Kong Licensed and ready to be driven. There are few more stylish machines on the streets than this.

1994 Ferrari 348 Challenge

RL Neo Classics Car Auction

Appearance in 2005 Movie Sin City
This 348 is the last official 348 TB imported into the UK and exhibited by Maranello Concessionaires at the Earl’s Court Motor Show in 1993. With Ferrari preparing to launch the “Challenge” series in 1994, Maranello Concessionaires decided that it too must enter the series and set about converting the car using the factory kit in the spring of 94. A driver was needed, and none other than Simon Toyne was sought as the works driver having won the class championship of the Ferrari Pirelli Championship in 1993. Imported into Hong Kong in 2005 by a famous collector, the car has seen minor action on China race circuits and was subsequently displayed at the Hong Kong Ferrari showroom.

1991 “Barn Find” Ferrari Testarossa LHD

RL Neo Classics Car Auction

Appearance in TV Series Miami Vice
The Testarossa – “Red Head” – revived a legendary model nick-name for Ferrari. Many of the most successful sports racing cars from the Scuderia in the 1950s and 1960s were called “Testa Rossa” after the cylinder head covers of their engines which were painted red to match the Italian national racing color. Bringing a model to the road car range in the 1980s was a master stroke of marketing and “branding”. The car was a great success in terms of sales and also as a wonderfully accomplished “driver’s car”.
